Your Car: Learn about the types of batteries
Do you know
the types of car batteries, so educate yourself, so this article will help you
when you shop for your car battery.
The
batteries can be broadly categorized into two groups - Maintenance-Free
Batteries and AGM. Each type comes with its unique benefits, which you must
know about before making a decision.
1. lead -
acid battery (regular)
Lead-acid
batteries are widely used and familiar these days. To use the battery type,
drivers must remove the water in the electrolyte solution periodically because
the battery power source is the fluid inside it. With lightning-fast
technology, new lead-acid batteries do not need more water like traditional
flooded cells. The new ones are made to keep their fluids for battery life and
their caps are not meant to be detached.
The lead acid battery cost is much cheaper than the AGM battery, which is why lead acid batteries are widely used. But there are some things that you should notice is that lead-acid batteries cannot carry a charge for a long time and have a low capacity to withstand deep drainage.
2. AGM

Absorbed
Glass Mat (AGM) batteries are equipped with more cars due to their great
capabilities and smart features. Compared to standard auto batteries, AGM
batteries have the ability to better stand on frequent recharge and discharge
cycles. AGM batteries feature smart features like electronic safety, convenience
features, fuel-saving stopping systems and power outlets for portable
electronic devices.
To purchase
an AGM battery, you must pay about 40% to 100% of normal batteries like an
lead-acid battery. Keep in mind that if you are someone who have often left their
cars for a long period of time and the car battery has lost its charge, AGM
battery purchase would be a smart choice for you.
The reason
is that AGM batteries are designed to better withstand deep discharge and are
likely to recover completely.
